Dear Lawrence,
Thank you so much for being so sweet and supportive in your most recent letter. Reading those words was like getting a weight lifted off my chest; I felt a lot better about that situation. It’s pretty great to have someone on your side, no matter how ridiculous your point is. I honestly needed to hear those words if I wanted to get through all the frustrating feelings I was experiencing. Also, the song helped a lot. The lyrics aren’t exactly a masterpiece of depth, but it was catchy enough to stick with me when I was feeling down. I did realize that now, I’ve just got to be a teenager, and live my life that way. With that attitude change, I’m just going to tackle everything life puts in front of me with the realization that not everything is really that important. And the important things that require careful thought and planning, are not impossible. Nothing is impossible, and there are some things that are not easy or simple, but certainly worth it. And with that attitude solidified in my mind, I am renewed. I have faith that I will get through junior year alright.
Okay. I just needed to get through that announcement before carrying on with my letter. Anyways, I just wanted to outline my appreciation for your kindness. These letters are honestly helping me stay sane, Lawrence, and I’m so thankful for that.
And, alright, I think we are close enough at which point I can ask this question. And I’m just very curious about what you think of it. What’s something about a girl you find absolutely beautiful? What feature (physical or personal) makes you instantly find someone likable? And, of course, I will answer that question myself when I read your answer. The only reason I ask this is because I have been reading this magazine called Seventeen which asks its readers questions like these (and gets a large amount of responses, despite only being two years old). Of course, this magazine is marketed towards girls and young women, not boys. It also discusses things like morality and civil responsibility. It’s certainly something I look forward to reading every month.
A few of my friends also read the magazine and enjoy its content. They mostly read it for the makeup ads, but they still learn something. Maybe you could get a copy just to see what’s in it. Then next letter we can compare notes.
Oh, how exciting! I think I’ll go see about getting the next copy right now.
Sincerely,
Margaret
