Freshman
New Year, New Attitude. Freshman basketball is off to an outstanding start in 2016, as they have won all of their first 6 games so far. Currently they stand at an overall record of 9-2, which is top of their league. After a nail biting 43-42 victory against San Marcos on January 7th, the freshman Bobcats came back to overwhelm Vista (65-50) and Fallbrook (68-32) on the 9th. Then, they defeated Mission Vista, Canyon Crest, and Rancho Buena Vista by scores of 64-46, 49-42, and a thrilling 65-62. The Sage Creek basketball program has a lot of talent at the freshman level, these sophomores and juniors better look!
JV
The JV team is 2-1 to kick off 2016 and 6-2 in their overall record. They defeated Sage Hill by a devastating score of 42-29 on the 12th, lost to Canyon Crest 48-56, and cam back to bite Mission Vista in an action packed 68-47 blowout! Nick Sonck and Bridger Hackworth have been deteriorating the defense of their opponents and have been extremely active offensively, which has played a vital role in the success of the team. Coe support them in their next game against El Camino on January 23rd.
Varsity
The 10-6 varsity squad has kicked off 2016 with an impressive 5-2 record, including a 4-0 tournament victory at the Fire Bird Classic back on January 9th. After falling short at the Aztec tournament by losing the championship game 55-66, players and Coach Dowdy were thrilled to bring back a title. When regular season resumed, they lost to Sage Hill 55-63 on January 12th and again fell the next day 61-63 to Canyon Crest. The home opener though, was a completely different story. With signs plastered around the gym and 400+ screaming fans, Sage Creek's Varsity squad defeated #1 ranked Mission Vista in a 66-59 overtime thriller! The overtime period was by far their best part of the game, as they outscored Mission Vista 11-4. Point guard Xavier Allison's ball handling found every open man including: Christian Janke; who had about 17 points, Bryce Buscher; who dominated the offensive glass, and Tyler Franchimone; who was raining threes. Join this terrific team on the road against LCC on the 20th for a 7 o'clock show down.
