Mrs. Andersson is the new Chemistry teacher at Sage Creek. We are very lucky to have her teaching us all about Chemistry. Originally from Washington state, Mrs. Andersson moved to Carlsbad 5 years ago. She really enjoys teaching Chemistry and trust me being one of her students there is never a dull moment in her classroom.
Q: What made you want to be a teacher?
A: I started volunteering at my daughter's school, Hope Elementary about 6 years. I fell in love with the culture and really loved the school, I always had a degree in Chemistry so I wanted to apply that, so I got a credential based on prior experience and volunteering at Hope.
Q: What made you interested in Chemistry?
A: I have always loved sciences and I had a really fun High School science teacher who did a lot of hands on activities, so I really got engaged through exploring science. I always loved how Chemistry really explained a lot of the world.

A: I have lived in Carlsbad now for 6 years, since I am very familiar with Carlsbad Unified through my daughter. I always really liked to school and they take care of their teachers and as parent I had a lot of respect for Carlsbad Unified. Being a new school and focused on being a S.T.E.M school, I knew this was the best fit for me.
Q: What is the best part of teaching Chemistry?
A: I love all of the labs, I love of the engagement and getting kids excited for science is definitely a lot of fun. Group work, lots of talking and moving around.
