The SCT currently has no status on the progress of the Tennis or Golf programs and will try to get that information out as soon as possible. Furthermore, we do not have information on freshman volleyball as scores have yet to be reported into the database. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.
The Sage Creek times is currently in need of 1-2 devoted writers for the Sports Sections (to be assigned after contact). We meet Tuesdays during lunch on the 3rd floor of the middle building in Ms. Kuehl's classroom. Attend the next meeting if you have interest please.
Varsity has begun its second season on the same track as it did when first took flight. The team is currently 0-6, although some scores have not been reported, so that is subject to change. They began the year with a devastating 19-1 loss on the road against Del Norte on March 14th, but got their offense moving when they fell to Canyon Crest Academy on the 16th. In that game, they mustered 5 goals in the 16-5 loss, but continued to improve as they shortened the loss difference on the 18th against University when they lost 12-7. Sadly, the track has fallen from there, as they recently were blown out on March 28th by a score of 17-1. Their next game is this week on the 13th against Fallbrook. Wish them luck for their first victory.
Freshman
The two week grace period did not give a significant aid to the freshman team as they have fallen short in two of their last five games. On the 29th of March against cross town rivals La Costa Canyon, their pitching surrendered 7 runs in the loss and then 4 more runs on the 30th against Poway in a shutout. When April came about, their offense lit up Escondido in a 7-1 stellar performance by the offense, but the bats went cold again 3 days later when Rancho Bernardo shut them out 9-0. Their next game is against arch rival RBV on the 12th! Come out and support a game that is sure to be a good time JV The JV team has faired 3-5 in their last 8 games bringing them nearly back up to speed with a 6-7 overall record before their first league game in two days. After defeating Classical 10-6 in an error prone game on March 21st, they fell into a four game skid as Mt. Carmel slipped by 3-2, El Camino ran over them 13-1, Mission Hills got them 9-6, and LCC shut them out 2-0. Their fielding and their pitching had really been quite off from what it normally was, even in April 2nd's win against Escondido in which the team had 6 errors. Few players have a fielding percentage above .550, but at least the batting has been slightly picking up. They face RBV really soon on the road. Wish them luck!!! From 2-3 to 7-6, that is how a Coach Madsen team turns around! The 6.69 e.r.a. has transformed into an insanely better 2.54! In addition, they have now produced 96 total runs scored in the 92 innings played this season. Between March 21st and March 24th, the Varsity squad player four games and took 3 of them into their win column. In back-to-back blowouts, they destroyed Classical Academy and Sunrise Mountain 19-0 in which the team collected 32 hits and 35 rbi's!! Then in an extra inning victory, Johnny Molina threw 6 innings while surrendering just 1 run and Jake McAllister threw the final 2 innings spotlessly. Although the Bishop's school defeated them 6-2 the following day, Sage Creek came back to crush Orange Glen on the 29th 22-1 and then Fallbrook 12-3 on the 31st.
Despite the fact they have now lost their last two games to Escondido (9-3) and Rancho Bernardo (7-2), this offense will come alive again and take down arch rivals RBV on the 12th at home! JV
Thus far in the young season, the JV squad is 3-2 with three other games yet to be reported. On March 19th, they kicked off the year with a 2-0 match win against Morse in the first of a double-header, but lost game two by a 2-1 match score against Coronado. On the 29th, they hosted cross-town rival Carlsbad, but the lancers got the best of our team as they shut them down 2 matches to 0. Since that home loss, the Bobcats have been on an uphill climb as they beat Del Norte on the 30th 2-0 and Valley Center on April 5th 2-0! Coach Palomares should be proud as she and her team are leading the charge into league play. The first 10 games of this young spring season have concluded and the Varsity squad stands at a 4-6 overall record. El Dorado and Legacy defeated them 2-0 on the 11th in the first two games of a Las Vegas Tournament and they won 2-0 against Valley to cap off the day. On March 12th, they split 2-2 after defeating Liberty and Sierra Vista 2-0 and losing to Bonanza and Mission Hills 2-0. Since their return to California, they have lost 2 of their last three to Carlsbad (3-0) and Del Norte (3-1). The win came against Valley center on the 28th in a 3-0 shutout! Their next game is against rival Mission Vista on the 12th at home in the Bobcat Arena. As coach Savage says to his P.E. class, "If they supported you, go support them. If they haven't, go support them anyway"!
